SEL For Schools

The SEL for Schools is a two-part certified course for teachers that includes two courses- SEL for Teachers to build teacher’s own Social and Emotional Competencies and SEL for Classrooms to provide teachers with a rich pool of hands-on learning activities to enhance students’ social and emotional competencies that is well known to also improve academic performance.

About the course

Equips teachers with practical tools to prevent teacher burnout, enhance their mental and emotional well-being, build healthy relationships with themselves and their students, and better manage their classrooms. The course also provides child-friendly and age-appropriate resources to teachers that can be directly used in classrooms to develop social and emotional competencies in learners.

Build understanding of Social and emotional learning

Learn the science behind social and emotional, engage with MGIEP EMCC framework, and other popular SEL frameworks.

 

Understand the impact of teacher SEL on student learning

Practice techniques to improve one’s emotional awareness and regulation to focus on wellbeing that also impacts learners’ readiness to learn.

Design lessons to support the growth of social and emotional competencies in classrooms, apply evidence-based classroom management practices.

This course aims to build healthy relationships with oneself, the larger community within which one lives, and the world at large. As such it focuses on building empathy, mindfulness, compassion, and critical inquiry to instill pro-social behaviors.

The Social & Emotional Educator- A primer
